The event is then followed by the National Film Festival which features screenings of the winning films for audiences. These awards celebrate the best films from the previous year, highlighting the rich diversity and talent across various regions and languages in Indian cinema.
The veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee was honored with the Special Mention (Feature Film) Award for his role in Gulmohar, presented by the Indian President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. At the same ceremony, AR Rahman celebrated a significant achievement, winning his seventh National Film Award for Best Background Score for Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1.
This year, Mithun Chakraborty stole the spotlight as he received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award honoring his significant contributions to Indian cinema.The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu, celebrating the legendary actor’s remarkable legacy.
The ceremony celebrated the winners across various categories, with Sooraj R. Barjatya named Best Director for Uunchai, a film about four aging friends preparing to scale Mt. Everest. Neena Gupta won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the same film.
